OpenMAG wiki

Every weapon, vehicle and map: the numbers we took from Battlefield 4 as reference, and the values we chose.

OpenMAG keeps MAG's structure (256 players, squads under real leaders, three PMCs, attack-and-defend through sectors) and plays like Battlefield 4 moment to moment (DESIGN §21). To get BF4's feel without copying it, we read BF4's numbers into clean-room tables, then picked our own: the same damage-ramp shape, distances stretched for 500 m sectors, armour and vehicles reshaped for 128 v 128. This wiki is generated from those notes and from the server's own source, so it shows what the game does today, what is only proposed, and what each number was tuned against.

The three PMCs

HALCYON Dynamics — "Precision is mercy."

The rich, quiet, sensor-first force. Compute-rich, light on armour, fast on the trigger: every squad has a model in its ear and sees you before you see it. HQ Zürich. Home ground: the Alps and the northern fjord coast. Strongest at range with its sensors up; fragile when the mast falls.

damage taken ×1.15 · speed ×1.06 · bleed-out -5 s · rifle → · kit, radio, music →

VOLKHOV Response Group (VRG) — "Iron doesn't ask."

The steel-rich, compute-poor brawlers. Heavy armour, heavy rounds, big loud drones; they close the distance, kill the sensors and make it a fight. HQ Yekaterinburg. Home ground: the Urals, the steppe and the Caspian shore. Strongest up close and in smoke; slow to get there.

damage taken ×0.85 · speed ×0.94 · bleed-out +8 s · rifle → · kit, radio, music →

MERIDIAN Security Corporation — "Hold the line."

The regular army. By the book, combined arms, logistics first; nothing special alone, very hard to beat when the trucks arrive. HQ Anchorage. Home ground: the boreal north, its rail yards, ports and arctic fab.

Lore

The Grey War, the world bible of LORE.md: the setting, the factions with their emblems, kit, radio and music briefs, the music cue sheet (16 cues wanted), and one page per map with its overview, a top-down render and an in-game screenshot:

Class → weapon → skill

Three layers, each bending the one below (DESIGN §7a): the PMC sets the baseline (rifle, armour, speed), the class picks the weapon family and gadget, and skills fine-tune both. Today's four classes map onto BF4's roles like this (class.rs, play.rs):

classBF4 roleweaponkit (class.rs)gadgets (play.rs)skills that tune it
Assaultengineerfaction rifle2 frag grenadesrepair tool (hold: 25 HP/s to a friendly truck / APC within 3 m) + AT rocket (350 to vehicles x2 when designated, 100 @4 m splash, 2 carried)Rifle foregrip (1 pt), Rifle Mk II (5 pts), Grenadier (1 pt), Field repair (1 pt), C4 charges (4 pts)
Medicassault/medicfaction riflemedkit: revives (1.5 s), heals squadmates nearbyrevive (E, start_revive) + med bag: 3 HP/s within 3 m for 30 sTrauma training (1 pt), Field dressing (1 pt), Adrenaline (2 pts), Aid station (2 pts)
SupportsupportLMG: 100-round box, slow reloadammo bag: refills nearby teammates' reserveLMG + ammo bag: a magazine (and a rocket / grenade) every 2 s, 3 m150-round box (2 pts), LMG Mk II (5 pts), Extra pouches (1 pt), Bandolier (1 pt), Demolition supply (2 pts)
Marksmanreconscoped DMR: heavy, slow, far-spawn beacon (squad spawn point, one per player) + laser designator (hold on an enemy vehicle within 500 m: rockets do x2, spots its crew)DMR high-power scope (1 pt), DMR 15-round magazine (2 pts), DMR Mk II (5 pts)

The §21 plan renames them to BF4's four: Assault = medic (defib + med bag), Engineer = repair tool + AT rocket, Support = ammo bag + LMG + C4, Recon = beacon + designator. Loadouts are free-form: any soldier picks a primary (rifle, LMG, DMR), a kit, two gear slots and an armour weight, as their skills allow (skills.rs).
